Biography

Teresa Lynn Santiago, nee Flammang, age 62, passed away suddenly on June 14, 2023. Loving wife of Freddy Santiago, Dearest mother of Cassandra, Michael, Adam, Yovani and Jesus; Beloved daughter of Barbara Flammang and the late James Flammang; Fond sister of the late James Flammang (the late Rhonda), Debbie Williams (Frank), and Michael Flammang; Cherised grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin and dear friend to many. Terri pursued a nursing degree after graduation from Lane Technical High School. Terri’s early position at Old Irving Community Clinic in which she accepted a lesser salary than she was capable of earning in order to serve the uninsured and underinsured started her path toward helping others always. She was at the clinic for 8 Plus years. Dr. Martinez who opened the clinic said he never could’ve had the success he had in serving the under served without Terri’s help. She also coached several medical students from DePaul who worked at at the clinic who said they would’ve never made it through medical school without her guidance. Most recently, Terri worked as a Nursing Director at St. Coletta for the past 11 years, where she helped and consoled many daily. Terri was the most selfless, giving and loving person who was always looking for a way to help someone if it was in her power to do so, whether it be family, friend or stranger. Terri was passionate about making sure everyone had everything they needed and then some, particularly at Christmas. Terri’s Angel Team held annual Christmas gift events for the homeless, distributing 1000’s of gifts to homeless men, women and children in Chicagoland shelters for 23 years making sure every gift was individually wrapped with a handwritten gift tag reading “To a Special Man (Woman or Child) and signed “Love- Your Angel”. Always smiling, always hugging, always giving her last before considering herself. Terri will be missed by many. Visitation Wednesday, June 21st, 3:00 – 8:00 PM with Funeral Service, 6:30 PM at The Oaks Funeral Home 1201 E. Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca. Interment private.
