Biography

Loving couple of 57 years, Richard and Sharon Statz, both 77, passed away only days apart after battling illnesses for the past few years. They are survived by their children, Tony Statz, Ann (Steve) Burch and Philip (Becky) Statz. They were blessed with 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many family and friends. After raising their family in Schiller Park and transitioning to Bloomingdale, they fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving to Florida over 5 years ago. They enjoyed numerous cruises, the daily glow of the Florida sunshine, watching every Hallmark movie ever made, texting with too many emojis, and reading the newspaper. Everyone who knew Sharon will miss her laughter and Richard’s opinion on just about everything. Visitation Thursday, March 23rd, 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at The Oaks Funeral Home 1201 E. Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca, IL 60143. We plan to share special memories of Rich and Sharon, starting at 6:30 p.m. Family and friends will meet Friday, March 24th, 10:00 a.m. at Saint Julian Eymard Catholic Church 601 Biesterfield Road, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007. Graveside prayers at Fairview Memorial Park 900 N. Wolf Road, Northlake, IL 60164. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Richard J Statz Irrevocable Trust which will benefit the hospice caregivers and medical workers who supported Richard and Sharon in their last days would be appreciated.
