Michael Fiore passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on December 3, 1938 in Bari, Italy to Pasquale and Agata Fiore, Michael lived a full life and was dedicated most to his family and community.
Michael grew up in Triggiano, Bari and immigrated to the U.S. when he was 21 years old. He soon after joined the U.S. Army and was a proud member of the U.S. Army soccer team. He and his family eventually moved to Chicago, where he met his loving wife. He spent over 40 years working in air cargo sales for various airlines, owned and operated an apartment building, and worked many nights to support his family and provide the American dream for them. He was fluent in English and Spanish, had an unmatched work ethic, and had an amazing ability to bring people together.
Michael loved the game of soccer, both playing and watching. He was an avid gardener, growing vegetables in his backyard that we would eat all summer long. He was a winemaker, taking his family to harvest the grapes to bring home and make his yearly stock, which he shared with friends and family. He was the consummate handyman: if it was broke, he would fix it. He loved to spend time with his friends and family, playing cards and sharing stories. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and relished every moment with them.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Ann; his children, Pat (Anna), Tina (Bill) and Rocky (Blanca); his grandchildren, Arianna, Michael, Michael, Molly, Thomas, Patrick, Michael, Sofia, and Olivia; and his sister Rina (Joe), his nephews Nino and Pasquale and his niece Antonella.
The wake will be held at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 Irving Park Rd in Itasca from 5-8 pm Friday, June 6th. There will be visitation at The Oaks Saturday morning, June 7th from 8:30-10:30 am. The funeral mass will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 551 N Rush St in Itasca at 11 am. The entombment will take place after the service at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N River Road in Des Plaines.
Michael’s legacy of love will live in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's name to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
