Biography

Maria Terracciano was born on January 28, 1960 in Italy. She died surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 6:26 p.m. at the age of 61. Maria is the beloved wife of Giovanni, cherished mother to Rosa (Frank) Cascella, Giovanna (Mike) Tomaszewski and Salvatore (Miranda) and treasured Nonna to her five grandchildren: Franco, Joey, Clara, Mikey and Nico. Maria was the precious daughter of the late Giuseppe and Carmina Capra, dearest sister of Michael (Donna) Capra and adored auntie to Joey (Pam) Capra and Christine (Justin) Powles. She was a caring relative and genuine friend to many. Maria was the epitome of faith, family and love. She was a devoted Catholic and faithful follower of Jesus. Her legacy continues through her husband of almost 40 years, her children and their spouses, as well as her grandchildren. After being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer nearly 4 years ago, Maria continued to worship God through both her words and actions. Amidst her suffering, Maria never despaired, complained or gave up hope, even until her last breath. Everyone who has ever had the pleasure of meeting Maria was in one way or another impacted by her beautiful soul. She touched the lives of all she crossed paths with. Maria was selfless and lived each day for those whom she loved, especially her grandchildren. Before she passed away, her last words of wisdom to her family were to always put God first, love one another and be good people. Maria will forever be missed. In lieu of flowers, please honor Maria by offering up a holy Mass in her name or donating to St. Jude’s Children Hospital. All are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 29, 11:00 am at Saint Peter the Apostle Church 551 N. Rush Street, Itasca. The funeral will begin at 8:45 am on Thursday, April 1 at The Oaks Funeral Home 1201 E. Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca with the procession leaving at 9:15 am.
