It is with great sadness that we announce the spirit of Marc Colavitti no longer inhabits this earthly plane. Marc passed away unexpectedly in his Schaumburg, IL home on June 26, 2024.
Marc’s life was anchored in his family. He shared a deep love for his parents, Marj and Gene, and his two remarkable sons Mat and Will, as well as his sister Anna. Marc was a graduate of Xavier High School, in Appleton, WI, and furthered his education, completing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Marc’s professional journey was defined by his creativity and expertise in contributions to research and development. While at Kohler, he assisted in design of manufacturing facilities in both Mexico and China. At Newell Brands, both Inkjoy and Sharpie products benefited from his ideas and innovations. While at Weber, Inc, he expanded and mentored a top notch research and development team. InstaPot Brands and True Manufacturing Co, Inc. also benefited from his vision and skill. Marc’s lifetime love of music is embraced his sons. Marc was a prolific supporter of the marching arts, encouraging both of his sons in their pursuit of excellence. He is remembered as a dedicated volunteer of his sons’ bands at Lake Park High School, and C.A.P.E. ensembles Chromium Winds and the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. Marc and his sons enjoyed many activities including woodworking, model railroading, music and camping. He had a passion for all things cooking, and in particular, grilling, achieving Red Jacket Grillmaster status. Everyone loved tasting his homework. Marc described himself as a “simple man”. He was appreciated by both friends and work associates for his interest and passion for growth and development and was a valued mentor. Truly left behind are his proud parents, Marj (Leininger) Colavitti and Gene Colavitti, his loving sons Mat and Will Colavitti, and his loyal sister Anna Colavitti, as well as many family, friends and colleagues. Marc’s legacy will resonate in the hearts and minds of those whose lives were touched by having known him. A Visitation will be held Sunday, July 7th, 3:00 –7:00 PM with a Remembrance at 6:00 PM at The Oaks Funeral Home 1201 E. Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca. Interment private.
