Biography

Judith “Judy” W. Maggio, age 77, died on November 22, 2022 after a monthlong battle with cancer. She attended Notre Dame High School for Girls in Chicago and Loyola University Chicago. She worked at Rubenstein Lumber Co. in Chicago for nearly fifty years as the company bookkeeper and co-owner. She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Tim; her sons, Michael and David; her daughter-in-law, Natalia; and her granddaughter, Francesca. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Roman and Irene, as well as her brother Thomas. Judy made serving others the center of her life. After retiring, she volunteered as an extraordinary minister of communion to the sick at Alexian Brothers Hospital. For the past four years, she cared for her husband Tim, who is suffering from dementia. She was committed to living her Catholic faith and continued to study scripture and theology up until her illness. Judy lived St. Mother Teresa’s words: “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” Family and friends will meet at St. Peter the Apostle Church 551 N. Rush Street, Itasca on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022 for a Memorial Visitation from 9:30 AM until the Celebration of the Memorial Mass, 10:30 AM.
