James K. “Jim” Reuter, lifelong resident of Roselle, Illinois, was welcomed home on May 28, 2026, surrounded by the peace and love of his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Amy; children Jimmy (Samantha) Reuter, Kelly (Samuel) Baker, Stephen (Erica) Filyo and grandchildren Paige, Aiden, Caleb, Levi and Ethan, all of whom brought Jim endless pride and joy. Remembering a life well lived and deeply loved is his sister Pamala (John) Shogren; his brother, Robert (Julie) Reuter, cherished brothers and sisters-in-law, treasured extended family and lifelong friendships. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Noreen and wife Barbara.
Jim, a graduate of St. Walter and Lake Park High Schools, was an avid golfer, loved live music events and hosted epic parties. He carried on his family’s 78 year legacy of vacationing at Lakewoods Resort in Cable, WI, where friends became family and a lifetime of memories were made. It was there Jim especially loved teaching the next generations to water ski.
Jim’s life was richly blessed by the extraordinary medical care, faith, and encouragement he received from so many. Expressing profound gratitude for Drs. Faruqi, Moriera, and Abaza; Saint Nancy and CDH 4A; Kennedy, Yuli, and the entire team on the 15th floor Prentice Women’s Hospital; and the brilliant, compassionate Warrenville Cancer Center staff who became family. So incredibly grateful for the selfless, life-giving gift of stem cell donations from Evan S.
Jim was deeply proud of his accomplished 45-year career as a union plumber. He loved sharing his skills to help others, often calling it ‘plumbing for Jesus.’ Jim’s life and legacy are best honored by spending quality time with the people you love and using your own time and talents to make a difference each day. Love and service make us rich.
