Edward R. Szady

It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude that we share the passing of Edward R. Szady, who left us on June 17, 2025, at the age of 87. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, adoring great-grandfather, and loyal brother, Edward embodied quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and purpose. Gifted with his hands, Edward could fix anything from a toaster to your air conditioner. He was always someone you could count on. He was a devoted husband to Patricia for 67 years, proud father to Donald and Cheryl, and a beloved grandfather to Lauren and Amanda. He especially delighted in being “Poppy” to his great-grandson Nicholas. Edward’s passion for cars and the open road brought him peace. Few things made him happier than a long drive with the windows down, a map on the dash, and adventure in his soul. He found joy in movement and purpose in repairing what was broken. A visitation to honor Edward will be held Friday, June 20, from 4–8 PM and Saturday, June 21st from 9:30 AM until time of Service, 10:00 AM at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E Irving Park Road (at Prospect) Itasca, IL.
