Diana M. Holmes, nee Coley, born on February 8, 1952 to Alice and Lavester. Beloved wife of Jeffrey Holmes, devoted mother to Matthew (Amanda) and Jeffrey (Elizabeth), and dear grandmother to Sophia, Daniel, Nora, Brennan, Charlotte, Hazel, Joseph, and Robin. Cherished sister to Dick (Judy) who preceded her in death, Bill (Bobbi), and Tim (Patti). Lovingly remembered by her in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Diane was an active member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Lombard where her sons began their education before moving to Itasca, where the family joined St. Peter the Apostle’s Parish. Diane’s kindness and generosity fostered many treasured connections in her life, and she built a community of friends from her time working at the boys’ schools, enjoying summers and weekends at Abbey Springs, and years of membership at the Itasca Country Club. Diane valued family above all and gathered loved ones together to celebrate holidays and birthdays, prided herself on giving thoughtful gifts, and was a loving presence in many lives. Being a Grandma was one of Diane’s most cherished roles. She adored her grandchildren, attending countless theater productions and sporting events, and baking special birthday treats by request. Sunday dinners shared with her children and grandchildren became a favorite tradition for the whole family.
Diane was surrounded by family and friends in her final days and passed peacefully on September 21st with her husband and sons by her side.
