Daniel Sheehy

Daniel J. Sheehy passed away peacefully shortly before his 90th birthday on September 17, 2025. Beloved husband for 65 years of Patricia nee Reilly; Loving father of John, Robert (Amy), Joseph (Jeanine); Cherished grandfather of Colleen, Aidan, Ally, Connor, Kyle, Liam (Sydni) and future great-grandfather of Liam and Sydni’s son due in January; Fond brother of Joan (Nino) Teresi; Dear son of the late Daniel & Ellen. Dan grew up on the West side of Chicago and graduated from Quigley North HS in 1955 and served in the National Guard after HS. He worked for the City of Chicago in the Streets and Sanitation Department for 34 years before retirement. He and Pat retired to Scottsdale, Arizona for 25 years and returned to their beloved Chicago a few years ago to be closer to family and friends. Dan was a loyal Chicago sports fan, enjoyed golfing with friends and was an avid reader of books and newspapers. He was a proud father of 3 sons and enjoyed watching them grow up and build families of their own. Dan and Pat never missed a birthday party or a graduation and attended many of their grandchildren’s activities while they were growing up. They visited each of their 6 grandchildren at the high school & college that they each attended. In 2018 Dan and Pat were able to take the whole family on a vacation of a lifetime to Dingle, Ireland to see the birthplaces of both his mother and father. Dan’s Catholic faith was an important part of him his whole life and he served as a Eucharist Minister for many years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Family and friends will meet Saturday, September 20th at St. Peter the Apostle Church 551 N Rush St, Itasca for a Visitation, 9:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Mass, 10:00 A.M. Interment private.
