Biography

Cathie (Kennedy) Smeal Loving mom of Harold (Adelaida) Burkhart and Daniel Kennedy; Fond cousin to many; Dear daughter of the late Manny and Jean Smeal. Passed away peacefully on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Rush Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by her son and daughter-in-law. She was born on October 15, 1951. Cathie enjoyed the simplest of pleasure, chatting with friends and family. She looked forward to gatherings with her friends from Bucktown that attended St. Hedwig Grade School. During the course of her life, she delt courageously with her illness, while still taking care of her sons. She graduated from Loyola University as a nurse. She enjoyed traveling and collecting Lladors. Visitation Thursday, February 10th 3:00-8:00 pm with a service at 7:00 pm at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E Irving Park Road (at Prospect) Itasca. Family and friends will meet Friday, February 11th at 11:00 am at the cemetery office at Saint Adalbert Cemetery, 6800 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL.
