Biography

Berit Abbrescia age 87; passed away peacefully on July 13, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Hans and Ruth Throndsen; Loving wife of the late Dominick; Loving mother of Sabrina (Richard); Devoted grandmother of Melissa (Dave) and Eric (Claire), great grandmother of Leif and great dog grandmother to Gypsy and Moneta; Dear sister of the late Harald (Ella) Throndsen; Dear aunt, cousin and friend to many. Berit was born in Oslo, Norway and was a longtime resident of Wood Dale. For the last four years, she lived amongst cherished friends at Clarendale of Addison. She had a passion for art, especially oil painting, and she left behind dozens of masterpieces which hang on the walls of her family’s homes. She was an integral part of the development and operation of The Village Art Gallery and Art School of Skokie. In her free time, when she wasn’t painting or taking care of her family, she could be found reading the latest John Grisham novel. Most of all, she devoted her life to her family, friends and loved ones. Her boundless love remains with us all. Visitation Monday, July 25th, 3:00 – 8:00 pm and Tuesday, July 26th, 8:30 am until time of funeral, 9:30 am at The Oaks Funeral Home 1201 E. Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca to Holy Ghost Church. Mass 10:00 am. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
